March

Written March 29, 2000

Hello, and welcome to my first entry! I'll start off by telling you bit about myself. My name is James Steeves, aka The Green Jello. I'm currently 19, about to turn 20, and I live in Fort McMurray, Alberta. I work at Wal-Mart, land of the happy-brainwashed people, in the Furniture department. It's not to bad at Wal-Mart, even though it seems just a bit too happy. I've worked in worse places, though. McDonalds was one of them. The amount of burns I received from that place, and the pitiful $5/hour they were paying me, just wasn't worth it. Then I moved on to IGA, a grocery store. Big mistake is all I have to say about that. I worked as a bagger, however my official title should have been "Store's Bitch." I worked there for a year, making $5.50/hour, and didn't get one raise. Then they decided to cut me off the schedule, though they didn't officially fire me. So that's when I went to work for Wal-Mart, and it suits me just fine.

This month has been weird so far. I broke up with my girlfriend early last month, and she still acts weird around me. Some days she'll seem fine, and then others she'll look and act like she wants to kill me.

Women, oy.

Now before you send off the flaming e-mail message, let me explain that comment. I say it merely as a way to express my confusion over how women act sometimes. It's my way of saying, "I'll never understand women, but why I keep trying I'll never know." So know please stop trying to find my address so that you can all send mail-bombs to me. Thank you. This has been a public service message, brought to you by my survival instinct.

I have one of my poems published at www.poetry.com. I sent it in for a contest. I hope I win, but I'm not getting my hopes up too far.

I celebrate my birthday next month. I'll be turning twenty. For some reason, I feel old and young. I think it's because the people I work with are all younger than me, but I still can't help it. Then there's the fact that I'll actually be an adult. I'll no longer be a teenager. I think that has more to do with it than anything else. Of course, I still won't act like an adult. I'll always be a kid at heart. As well as a little psychotic and strange. Got to be psychotic and strange. Keeps the normal people away.

Well, not much else happened. Yeah, I know, I lead a boring life. So sue me. No, wait. Scratch that. Anyway, hope you had a great St. Patrick's Day, and see you next month!

James
